This 3 1/2" by 2 3/4" patch was the ensignia for a division of the Red Army....of which there are many!  each division had the same sized and shaped patch with a different emblem centered in a shield border. the material is felt-like, and the embossed insignia is a yellow rubber with red felt star.

note: this is for a "Signals" troops.
