This pendant charm has all the elements of a great gem. The monkey or possibly a dog is beautifully hand carved in natural red coral. This is natural untreated red coral. The size and form of the monkey are just perfect! It is set in 18k gold. I believe this dates to the Art Deco period, c1910-1940 although it may be earlier or later. It is so rare to find these jewels and I just love this one!!
The pendant comes from a prominent New York city estate. It is classic and elegant and has great impact - with all the elements that you look for in antique jewelry - quality, design, originality, sparkle, drama, just a perfect estate jewel!!!
The pendant is in excellent condition. There is no damage to the coral. The gold is in excellent condition. The coral monkey or dog is 25mm tall and 15mm wide. The gold is hallmarked 750 for 18K. The pendant weighs 4.3 grams.
