Pentax K-30 Weather-Sealed 16 MP camera with split screen, Pentax F 35-70 3.5-4.5 macro, SMC-M 50/2.0, Tokina 60-120 2.8 and Vivitar Series 1 70-210/3.5

K-30 digital camera is modified for M and K lenses. A split focus screen is installed and calibrated, to ensure accurate manual focus. I included a picture showing how you see through the viewfinder and get focus confirmation.

1.  Pentax K-30, with split focusing screen. Screen protector installed.

•  The camera is in great condition. Shutter counts ~ 4,500.

•  The forehead of the camera (tip of the pop-up flash) has some damage -- see photos #4 &5. Was knocked on a concrete table right after I took photos with the 50mm lens mounted -- so you don't see damage on the photos with 50mm lens mounted (photos #6&7). I did some repair and it is not very obvious, see photos #4 &5. A pure cosmetic issue. Flash works great. Body is clean everywhere. A screen protector was installed and there is no obvious scratch on it.

•  Sensor is clean and I don't see dead pixel;

•  A split focusing screen installed and adjusted with a shim, so the focusing is accurate with the screen. If you need the original L90 screen also, please let me know and I will include it in the package free of charge.

• Includes battery, charger, cable, manual software and strap in original box. An 8 gb SD card will be included.

The camera was modified to allow for “stop-down metering” when M and K lenses are mounted. The aperture will close when you turn the aperture ring, so all M and K lenses can be used at Av setting for automatic exposure, just like M42 lenses. Metering is accurate and you don’t need to modify lens or use green button to meter.

But, this modification disabled the automatic aperture control on camera. So DA lenses without aperture ring will not be able to keep the aperture open, thus should be avoided.

AF still works great, so you can still mount a FA or F lens, or other 3rd party lenses with aperture ring on it, for automatic focus and metering. You just need to control the aperture on lens, not on camera. All old manual film camera users should be home here.

Lenses:

1.  Pentax F 35-70 f 3.5-4.5 macro lens. Lens is in good condition. Some very small dust inside, close to the edge of an element. Too small to be shown in any picture and will not affect IQ. Everything works. Great walk-around lens, very light and covers full-frame sensor.

         2.  Pentax-M 50mm 2.0. Clean glass and everything works. Great low light lens or for portrait.

     3.   Tokina 60-120mm 1:2.8. PK mount installed. It was converted from other mount, and allows for focus to infinity. It works as stop-down lens, which means aperture closes when you turn the aperture ring on the lens. So you can use it on Av model and get automatic exposure. Glass has quite a lot of scratches and dust/foggy, as shown in the photos. Still takes great photos. Zoom and focus works. Very light F2.8 zoom lens for portrait

         4.  Vivitar Serial 1 Macro Focus Auto zoom 70-205mm 1:3.5 fast tele zoom with original caps and in original case. No scratches on glass and very minor dust. There is a very small spot (maybe fungus) under the front glass. maybe can be easily removed because it looks right under the front glass. Please check the photos for detail.

Just to clarify: to do the modification on K30 camera as I described, I have to remove a little knob inside the mount on the left side, and there were a few scratches on the plastic parts inside the mount. The parts has no electronic elements or any moving parts on it, so it is pure cosmetic thing. Not visible at all when a lens is mounted or a camera cap is on. A buyer returned the camera because of that. So I want to make sure buyers notice it.

Thanks

Will add an "AA battery adapter" in the kit, which allows using AA batteries to power the camera, when the original battery runs out of power in the field. Sharing the battery with flash is handy.

Sorry to keep revising the description: But I noticed some glue residue on the screen protector, very low right corner. It is NOT in the display region, and does not affect the screen function at all. It is visible in photo #8.
