DAVOS 100 Traditional Wooden Sledge

{short description of image}

This classic 100cm timber sledge takes its name from the first official sled race which was held in Davos, Switzerland in 1883.

The Davos 100 is the ultimate traditional sledge and is ideal for adults and children alike.

The five chamfered edged seating slats are fixed to a laminated beechwood frame which themselves are braced with galvanized steel supports for added strength. The runners, at 35cm wide are wider than the 29cm wide seat making for a more stable ride.

Full length galvanized steel runners on the skids provide great grip on the snow and a fast gliding sledge that's easy to steer.

The sledge is finished with two PVC end caps where the runners curl up and fix to the main frame and a steel foot bar at the front complete with a tow rope ready to pull the sledge back to the top of the hill.

  • Overall length of sledge - 100cm
  • Seating area - 29cm wide x 68cm long
  • Width of skids - 35cm
  • 23cm from skids to top of seat
  • Galvanized steel runners and bracing supports

Wooden Sledge Maintenance
To ensure your wooden sledge is in tip top condition come the first fall of snow, it is important that wooden sledges are clean and dry when put away. Particular care needs to be taken with respect to the metal runners, keeping these free of rust (which will manifest if allowed to thanks to contact with the snow) is important, and many people coat the runners with Vaseline after cleaning to keep them rust free.

Wooden sledges safety factors
Safety must be taken into account when sledging, for by nature the pastime involves hurtling down a snow covered hill at high speed. The obvious danger of hitting an object, or worse another person, at such speeds can be reduced providing you make sure that you choose a clear path to sledge on, and that nobody else is there at the time.
