You are looking at a 1990 Peugeot Perthus in size 22" (56cm).

This Reynolds 531 frameset is extremely light and responsive. It definitely belongs to the noble Peugeot PY line of racing machines - check the serial number on the bottom bracket macro shot, it starts with a "Y" which is the distinctive mark of Peugeot PY models.

This Peugeot racing machine was built with the ultimate evolution of Reynolds 531 tubeset - 531 5/10mm thick. The lightest and most responsive Reynolds 531 ever. And true this frame is light, dynamic and was therefore granted with one of the most legendary Peugeot name - Perthus.

Front triangle is square - allowing for an agressive forward position:
- Top tube center to center: 56cm
- Seat tube center to center: 56cm

Chainstays are short - 39.5cm, providing extreme responsiveness

Headset and bottom bracket dimensions are standard:
- bottom bracket shell: BSC (English): 1.37x24TPI - comes with a Stronglight JIS bottom bracket
- headset: ISO (30.2 headtube cups, 1" steerer, 24TPI thread, 26.4mm crown race) - will need a standard 22.2mm quill stem

Seatpost diameter is still "very Peugeot": 26.6mm

Painting is in outstanding condition for a frame of this age with really few marks and scratches, barely noticeable paint chips, etc..

What makes this model a bit special is that it is with this model that the Reynolds 531 story ended - at least for the competitive racing bikes. The tubeset used in this Peugeot Perthus bicycle was the last and final evolution of Reynolds 531 tubing which started in the 1930s and greatly evolved over the next fifty years, providing the basis of success for generations of frame builders, legendary bikes and famous riders.

Therefore this Peugeot Perthus is altogether a competitive and a historical machine... if not a sentimental piece of history !
