Rover 75 diesel estate (BMW engine) with auto transmission. I am selling this car as a non-runner, although it runs and drives, and has six month's MoT, but it will not start, hot or cold, without a sniff of ether. It doesn't generate quite enough fuel pressure (150 bar) to crack open the injectors at cranking speed. A couple of injectors are leaking back into the return and that is just enough to drop the fuel pressure in the rail so it won't open the injectors at cranking speed. It must be very close, though, because it will idle happily all day once you get it started, but it does not quite make enough pressure at cranking speed. The story is I bought the car with this fault for a girl who works for me, as she was looking for an estate car with a tow bar and roof bars. Her tastes and mine must be different though - she reckons it is an "old man's car" & wanted something more sexy. I've included a pic of her so you can see what I'm up against. This BMW engine is very highly regarded, so it's worth doing, but I can't really be bothered to spend the time fixing a car for which I now have no use, so I'm selling it like it is. It has done a high mileage, but it had a new automatic gearbox and ECU fitted at the Rover main dealer in 2005 at a cost of almost £4,000, and the engine was rebuilt by South London engineering in 2006 at a cost of £2,000. It has a lovely black leather interior, polished wood dash, and even an integrated television and satnav. There is a scrape and slight dent along the offside front wing, which continues along the doors and rear wheel arch, but I'm sure everything except the wing would polish out. Currently MoT'd but not taxed. Cash on collection preferred - car is located in Horsham West Sussex. More details from Hugo@aruncoaches.co.uk or 07768 595959. I have this car advertised elsewhere as it's taking up space I do not have, so I reserve the right to end the auction early.
