The 1950's were a Renaissance History. premium passenger trains as the Santa Fe's Super Chief, the joint effort that was the California Zephyr, and the Southern Pacific's glamorous Morning Daylight all providing rail patrons with their pick of luxurious travel options. Into this prosperous time rode the Union Pacific's own entries into the competetive realm of premier travel: The "City of trains. One of the most distinctive and iconic of these was the City of Los Angeles, with three vista domes (named "Domeliners"), including the first dedicated dome dining car which offered dinner with - and under - the stars. Capture the magic of this train as it appeared in 1954 - complete with Dome Diner and its unique broad lit tail sign designed to replicate the look of a raised neon placard thanks to a brand new lighting system - available from Kato USA this spring in an elegant 11-car set with display UNITRACK and available E9A and E9B locomotives to either show off or operate the train on your N Scale layout!
