This is a nice Cape Cod Glass Works millefiori patterned paperweight with 4 different colored Clichy style rose canes on a purple ground. It measures 2 7/8" in diameter, and 1 1/2" high. It is in excellent condition with no chips, or cracks. Some of the canes on the outer row have a slight swirl to them, just the way it was made. Bottom has polished pontil. I bought this directly from the family of the owners of the Cape Cod Glass Works. Bill Burchfield started glass working at Pairpoint in the 1970's, and went on to start his own studio/glass factory in the late 70's or early 80's, in Buzzards Bay, MA, then on to Sagamore, MA in the late 80's working through the 1990's, until it moved to Tennessee in about 2000 only working for a brief time before finally ceasing operations, and made some of the most beautiful crown weights, swirls, marbries, and millefiori paperweights and marbles, at the height of his career in the 1990s, and was best known for his Clichy style rose canes which are some of the best contemporary examples, in my opinion.
