One (1) only: gorgeous Gustav Klimt subject stamp is offered as a perfect never hinged (unmounted) mint single.
Scott#1154, S.G. 1873, Yvert 1471.
The stamp design is from a section of Klimt's epic works, Philosophy, Medicine, and Jurisprudence (Law) , commissioned by the University of Vienna in 1901. The remaining sections of this great work were stolen and destroyed by looting nazis near the end of World War II.
Although this may regarded as a fairly common stamp, the superb never hinged mint Block of 4, offered in our eBay Store, is certainly very UNcommon !! Please view.
This section shows HYGEIA, daughter of the god of medicine, ASCLEPIUS, and granddaughter of the god, APOLLO.
The model for this work was Klimt's long-time friend and supporter, Frau ADELE BLOCH-BAUER**, who was also the model in numerous other Klimt works, including the ever-popular JUDITH I, which the Austria Post Office released as a Souvenir sheet in 2003. This sheet, and more than a dozen other Gustav Klimt stamps and souvenir sheets, is on offer in our eBay Store.
