Product information

Chlorella is a single-celled, freshwater algae, which is grown in various warm areas of the world. The product contains large amounts of chlorophyll, the chemical that gives plants their green colour. During the early Twentieth Century it was investigated as a possible solution to future world food shortages, as about half its mass is protein. Today it is used in several Asian diets, and consumed world-wide as a dietary supplement. It is used widely as part of detoxification programmes.

Chlorella is considered to be a natural “multivitamin”, possessing various beneficial nutrients. Chlorella is also used by those who eat a vegan or vegetarian diet as a source of amino acids (protein) and vitamins that are often found only in meat-based proteins. Also, most notably present in Chlorella are the Vitamins D, E and Iron.

Chlorella is a source of various different nutrients, such as Vitamin D, Thiamin (B1), Riboflavin (B2), Niacin (B3), Pantothenic Acid (B5), Vitamin B6, Biotin (B7), Vitamin B12, Phosphorus, Iron, Manganese, Iodine and Chlorophyll.

Chlorella’s Vitamin B1, B2 and B3 contribute to normal energy-yielding metabolism, the normal functioning of the nervous system, and the maintenance of the heart, skin and vision.
Chlorella is a source of Vitamin B6, B7 and B12, known to contribute to the normal function of the immune system, the reduction of tiredness and fatigue and normal psychological function.

Processing

Sevenhills Wholefoods Organic Chlorella is grown in fresh water under strict conditions of purity. It grows in cultivation ponds far away from industrial activity until dense enough, when it is harvested. Chlorella has a tough cell wall, which can be a barrier to our absorption of its nutrition. This cell wall is broken using high impact jet spraying which preserves the nutritional integrity of the cell contents so that these are accessible and undamaged when consumed. The algae is then immediately dried and ground into powder form by an advanced spray technique that preserves its nutrients, and better absorption into our bodies. The Chlorella is then sent over to the UK, before being packaged and shipped out to our awaiting customers.

Suggested Usage

We recommend taking 6-10 tablets with water, once or twice a day.
