Product Description
Ultimate 5.8GHz FPV Video Reception!
Adding a ClearBoost to your 5.8GHz video receiver gives you increased flight flexibility. Where before you received a weak signal, the amplifier boosts it up from static to clear video. Whether you are flying long distance aerial mapping, or FPV racing around trees and obstacles, ClearBoost is going to give you more consistent video.
If you have tried a high gain antenna, such as a helical or patch antenna, you have seen the benefits of increased gain yet also the limitations of a narrow beamwidth. ClearBoost improves your video in a similar way, but allows you to use any antenna, with any beamwidth! Coupled with a directional antenna, ClearBoost really lets you push the limits. To understand how this works, consider that every 6dB of gain will theoretically double your range. As the ClearBoost makes over 13dB gain, it has the capability to quadruple your range. Note that actual distances will vary wildly based on terrain and atmospheric conditions, however some practical uses include the following:
Running 25mW on a quad racer will be more than enough for a locked in signal, as 13dB gain on 25mW is like running a full 600mW transmitter!
For longer range, a typical 600mW 5.8GHz transmitter, combined with a ClearBoost will provide a solid signal for several kilometers with standard circular polarized antennas
For super long range, combine a ClearBoost with a highly directional patch or similar directional antenna to get far beyond line of sight performance! Using a large Patch or similar antenna with more than 20dB gain will give you a killer long range 5.8GHz system!
If using a diversity receiver system, it is advisable to get two ClearBoosts so you have one for each antenna input
Note: At close range, most obstacles will not cause a signal loss, but even with a ClearBoost receiver pre-amplifier, you still need a clear signal path for extra long distances. Going behind a hill or large building, trees, etc, at several kilometers out will probably still result in a signal loss at 5.8GHz.
Note2: This device is for receive only! Never transmit through it, or it will be destroyed.
