This sale is for a VICTORIAN hardback edition entitled “Shooting,” subtitled “Moor and Marsh,” by Lord Walsingam and Sir Ralph Payne-Gallwey, Bt., with contributions by Lord Lovat and Lortd Charles Lennon Kerr, numerous FULL PAGE and fine engraved illustrations by A. J. Stuart-Wortley, Harper Pennington, C. Whymper, J. H. Oswald Brown and G. E. Lodge, including a tissue-guarded frontispiece.


 


It was published by Longmans, Green and Co., of London, in March, 1893 is the fourth impression of the August, 1886 FIRST EDITION, and is one of the wonderfully illustrated and highly collectable “The Badminton Library of Sports and Pastimes” editions, edited by His Grace the Duke of Beaufort, K.G., assisted by Alfred E. T. Watson.

The Badminton Library was edited by His Grace the Duke of Beaufort, K.G., assisted by Alfred E. T. Watson.


 


The book measures 7.7 inches x 5.75 inches x 1.3 inches and has 358 pages (+ full page illustrations), which are hand-cut to the top rims (some un-cut). 


 


The book is in very good neat condition for its age, with minor wear and is a little grubby to the original decorative cloth hardback cover, with a previous owner’s name at the front, a little foxing near the covers/rims, and no other ink or pencil markings in the book. The binding is good with no loose or missing pages.  As issued, there is no dust-jacket.
