Significantly Superior in the water compared to Sevylor Pointer, Hudson, Colorado, Rio, Z Pro Tango & Advanced Elements Advanced Frame Kayaks & other similar low pressure inflatables thanks to the higher pressure of the Gumotex tubes and the superb hull shape - and lighter and more rewarding to paddle needing less effort for superior forward momentum. Helios 1 Kayak is designed for comfort! It is suitable for calm conditions and slow moving water up to white water class 2. Perfect for excursions on lakes and at the seaside. Featuring loads of room for tents, bags and other gear and Helios has significant out of sight stowage areas. Manufactured from a thick tough rubber like material (Nitrilon) that is able to withstand knocks, bumps and unseen objects. Nitrilon® is a rot proof polyester mesh coated with a rubber mixture on the inside and Nitrile rubber on the outside. Superb rip-stop characteristics, and simply wipe dry at the end of a day's paddling. Helios 1 features superior push button valves that facilitate purging excess pressure when in use that reduces risk of over inflating on hot days. Gumotex Helios 1 Kayak - The awards winner! - The perfect craft when you need to have a large carrying capacity - superb for trips lasting several days. The Helios was chosen twice for a Readers Choice Award from Sea Kayaker magazine in the inflatable kayak category. The award was based on the results of a reader survey taken every three years. Features Adjustable footrests Safety Ropes Comfortable backrests Netting for gear stowage Carrying handles for easy portage Flush Push & Twist Valves Over pressure floor valve 70 Litre Rucksack Dry bag included Lifelines around sides Repair Kit Manufactured from Nitrilon Underside Fin Optional Rudder Each kayak is divided into three separate air chambers for safety. The valves are sophisticated “bayonet” style units set flush with the fabric surface. A pressure relief valve is installed in the kayak floor chamber to relieve possible overpressure. Setup time with a manual pump is about 5 minutes. The Helios Kayaks have a “tubeless” construction that parallels what tire manufacturers went to decades ago - it is inherently light, but it also inflates to a higher pressure than competing bladder kayaks (3.00 psi vs 1.5 psi). The higher pressure means that the Helios Kayaks are are stiffer in rough water and have snappier paddling performance. Other inflatable kayaks are mostly built using an unreinforced vinyl bladder inside a zip-on skin. This technique results in a heavier boat and the potential for water to get trapped making it difficult to dry and pack away. Green - Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) is increasingly being recognized as a material of significant environmental concern. The Helios is free of PVC.
