This an unusual type of the D-Ring clip that is used to close the large canvas Equipment/Personnel Items Kit Bags used by military personnel.

The Kit Bags are normally seen used by NAVY Sailors but also used by all services Army and RAF.

This is an unusual type of these D-clip closers for the top of the Kit Bags which pass through eyelets around the top edge and then close and lock the bags.

The  normal D-Clips are brass and once closed lock the ring shut with a small padlock.

This unusual metal type has an integral "SQUIRE" padlock as part of the clip.

They are normally missing but there is one key with this ring.

I think this is probably c.WWII period

but I have been total by a late 1940's-early 1950's National Service soldier that he used one of these.

An unusual variation of this personnel kit item and the first one of this type I have seen.

 The Clip is approx. 5 3/8" long /  6 5/8" including padlock.

See PHOTO'S.

In good condition with a nice age patina.

A nice personal kit item.
