CSX 2137 is known as the cobra that drew first blood in the Cobra-Ferrari wars of the 60's. Dan Gurney's victory in September of '63 was the first time that a cobra and an american driver won an FIA race. Shelby produced three "Lemans replicas" that were raced in '63 as factory team cars and they became a fearsome foe on the tracks. This particular model is the replica of the black #99 that Bob Bondurant drove to victory at the Riverside Endurance race in 1963.In the days leading up to Le Mans, the Ford team had to come to terms with the fact that Stewart, Ruby and Foyt had all suffered accidents, leaving them three good drivers short! Thankfully, the Kiwi duo of McLaren and Amon stood strong. Shelby American painted their car all black with a branch and the letters "NZ", resembling the uniform of the New Zealand national rugby team.
