Drum carder tools also known as batt pickers or doffers are used to remove wool fibres or fleece batts from a drum carder by spinners and felt makers.

These individually unique drafted and crafted tools are both functional and decorative. Well designed, user friendly consisting of a tactile wooden handle and a durable steel body which can be comfortably moved across the drum to carefully lift the fleece (batt) from the carding machine (two types of steel body are available one straight and one angled. The tactile wooden handles are made from a variety of different timbers as listed in the description).

In the mills and factories the traditional task of removing full bobbins from the spinning frames and replacing them with empty ones, was a job carried out by the person called the ‘Doffer’. The Doffer or Batt Picker is the name given to the tools used today by spinners or felt makers to remove fleece from a drum carder.
