Grand machine électrostatique de Carré signée "L. Luizard/ Constructeur/ Paris/ 21, rue d'Arcole", circa 1880

Grande machine électrostatique utilisée à des fins médicales dans les hôpitaux.

Disque inducteur frotté en ébonite (39 cm), disque induit en ébonite (50 cm).

Excellent état de conservation de la machine, les disques en ébonite sont bien droits,

tous les éléments d'origine sont présents, sauf la courroie de transmission en cuir a été refaite. 

Machine très rare du point de vue taille et état de conservation, seule la courroie est postérieure.

Longueur du condensateur cylindrique en laiton: 75 cm; hauteur totale: 97 cm, dimensions du socle en acajou verni: 50 x 47 cm.

A Carré electrostatic friction-influence machine by Luizard, circa 1880

A very fine and original example of the most impressive and probably beautiful/decorative friction-influence electrostatic machine from the 19th century, the Carré-type machine, invented by Ferdinand Philippe Edouard Carré and here built and sold by Luizard.

The two main discs are in ebonite or “vulcanized rubber” as said the instrument makers during the 19th century. We find more usualy examples of Carré machine with the smallest disc in glass and the largest in ebonite.

The machine measures 104 cm height, 75 cm widht and the disc around 50 cm diameter.

The conditions is fine and original, only the belt is modern so the belt does not drive perfectly the two discs.
