This is a rarely seen Hibbard Super Tone 6-tube AC/DC radio, probably manufactured by the Continental Radio and Television Corporation in 1939 or 1940.  There are 4 push-button presets.  Hibbard Super Tone may have been a store brand name of Hibbard & Co. department stores in Colorado Springs, or Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co. hardware stores in Chicago.  Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co. was a precursor to True Value hardware stores.  This information was all I could find on the internet about the Hibbard store name.

This radio has been completely restored.  All capacitors including filter caps have been replaced.  Any out of specification resistors have been replaced. Tubes which tested weak have been replaced.  All pots have been cleaned with DeOxit lubricant and a new polarized AC cord has been installed.  The cabinet has also been completely refinished.  The strip of veneer at the bottom-front of the cabinet was heavily damaged, so it has been replaced with Redwood Burl veneer, which looks quite striking on this radio.  The grill cloth has also been replaced with a brand new piece which also looks very nice on this radio.  The 3 knobs are the original knobs.  Dimensions are 14.5 inches wide, 9 inches tall, and 7 inches deep.

This radio works very well.  On the AM band I picked up many stations with good tone and volume.  This radio has a built-in loop antenna so no additional wires are needed for AM reception.  I was also able to receive several stations on the short wave band at night with a long wire antenna.  If you expect to use the short wave on this you will need to connect a long piece of wire of about 10 feet or so to the pigtail at the back of the cabinet.

All in all, a very handsome rarely seen radio with an unusual marbled dial bezel in great working condition.

Please look at the photos carefully for they are part of this description.  I have shipped many antique radios by FedEx without any problems.  This will be sent carefully packed, double-boxed and fully insured.
