Westinghouse Amp
Nifty
little project amp for those winter nights.
This
is unknown brand. This is a stereo unit. It likely came from a record player.
This is a cool little unit. I love the 50EH5 tube. Sweet sounding, with "bigger" sounding power than the rated 1-1.5 watts.
This uses one 50EH5 power tube tube per channel and a 35W4 rectifier. Includes tubes.
This
is a line powered amp. These amps have no power transformer,
taking their power feed directly from the AC line.
Those white puffy things are the tubes, wrapped up for delivery.
If
you are unfamiliar with the hazards, please familiarize yourself
before working on or operating one of these.
Here
is a very good reference: Line Amp Safety.
If you have any misgivings, be aware that tube radios used this
type of power for decades, as did record players and early hi-fi
amplifiers. Properly employed they are little or no danger.
Building or modifying one of these demands proper cautions.
I have built, modified and used this low power design many years.
I love the benefit of their simplicity. They sound great.
This is not guaranteed to be working but I hope you'll give this a try.
