Price Reduction for 2 days after which the eBay fee free promotion ends and I am going away.
(and will end the listing if not sold by midnight Saturday).

This unit was given to a friend of mine for whom I was modifying a player and has now been returned.
When removed from sale few days ago, there was some interest which I hope will return (28 watchers and 1264 visitors!)

For sale is highly collectable Naim NACD3 Audiophile CD Player.
Please see bullet list below for a list of advanced engineering features employed.
Winning bidder can request to have RCA sockets fitted and/or SPDIF coax digital output fitted ($100 for each option).

Originally had only a minor fault of distorting the sound for the first minute or so after being turned on.
This was a simple fix of replacing a -15V regulator and its associated filtering capacitors (low ESR replacement were used).

Very much in original condition with original Philips CDM-9 mechanism still in place, playing both pressed CDs and CD-Rs
with no problem and reading "Table of Contents" in under 1 second.
The sound is superb and hugely superior to today's players.

There are some minor marks on the top cover which are shown on the last two photographs,
but hardly visible under all circumstances but very close inspection.

Price reduced by $50 as eBay is running fee free selling promotion
and savings are being passed on to you (ends 31st January).

Superb engineering here. One of the best CD players ever made.
  • 11 voltage regulators,
  • star grounding,
  • CDM-9, the last of Philips floating swing arm, magnetic drive friction-less mechanisms,
  • TDA-1541A Single Crown DAC chip,
  • Burr-Brown OPA-604 operational amplifiers,
  • oversized transformer located opposite to the signal path,
  • huge 40 mili-Farad per channel current reservoirs.
  • anything non-essential to its function removed (like programming play lists, fancy displays etc).
  • CD loading is done manually as there is no tray driving mechanisms/motors/servos.
  • there is even a diagram on how to ground the case with a single screw on the bottom of the player.
  • They don't make them like that any more...
