Close to 80% of the kits I have bought on Ebay were missing some parts and about 20% were parts nearly impossible to replace! Beware of the cliché sentences, Here are just a few from some recent kits for sale:

«All parts seem to be here!!!... Appears to be complete!!!.... but it appears that all of the parts are there!!!...can't guarantee, but I am quite positive that everything is included!!!...Looks to me like it might be a complete kit... appears like as if complete and untouched!!!...It appears to be 100 percent complete!!!... This looks excellent and looks like its all there!! … kit seems to be all or mostly complete… This looks to have never been unpacked …I ASSUME NO PARTS ARE MISSING…» it seems unlikely that anything could be missing...

Elaborate, contradictory and repetitive:

« I looked in the parts bag and it looks like everything is there, although I did not inventory everything. It's possible something may be missing (but it doesn't look like it)…TO THE BEST OF OUR KNOWLEDGE ALL THE OTHER PARTS ARE INCLUDED BUT IT IS POSSIBLE OTHER STUFF MAY BE AMISS…. I can't guarantee that all parts are included but I am quite positive that everything is included»

«all parts appear to be present and accounted for»

Which is it? they either "appear" to be present or they have been accounted for! right

FOR THIS KIT, I have spent all the time needed to make the inventory of the parts. So it doesn't just appear to be complete. It IS complete. PERIOD!

In the process small defects (hard to see or photograph) have been found on the lower right corner of the front panel. Bag was sealed before I took picture below:

We use 12 image hosting sites to embed several FULL SIZE, detailed pictures in the body of the description so you can literally «touch» what you are buying. ( No thumnails to click on)  So, we will not accept returns of kits because they are typically returned altered, damaged and/or with missing parts.

I will include the copy of a letter to kit builders written by Heathkit engineer Ken Noles in the seventies. Also you may want to "take" the survey Heath and ALLIED KNIGHT- KIT sent to their new customers; you  will find the questions packed with your new Heathkit. Heathkit pionnered the concept of electronic kits and their advice will help kit builders and collectors alike.

We have provided a new 41 page manual with big fold-outs

The Sabtronics, Eico Cortina, Allied Knight Kit, Scott, Bogen, Lafayette, EMC, Conar or NRI, SWTPC kit lines which were competitors, have also long been discontinued.

In my future listing, I'll introduce more of these rare and unknown kits from the forties thru the seventies. Although  there are probably very few of these in existence today, I may eventually sell  some more of my own rare kit collection

We have purchased many different electronic kits and we are showing samples in this photo.

1930's Retro type radios, 1960's portables and digital with surface mount technology kits are now available as well
As usual we have taken as much time (months) as it is necessary to develop building and alignment instructions so these kits will be built by their ownersWith careful inventory of parts, we expect that these kits will not end up in attics or garages some 25 years from today!
We want you to enjoy building them as much as we have!

Some kit industry history
Many little or less known kit producing companies thrived in the 50's through the 80's.

Welcome

Please, read the description and examine the photographs carefully.

I sell quality new or nearly new tested merchandise. Whether or not an article is new, I use the same care inspecting, detailling or restoring it, as I use preparing the listing you are reading now. My buyer's emails and feedbacks attest to the cleanliness of my items down to the smallest nook and cranny.

Rarely, an item may be sold for parts or rebuild and would be clearly described as such.

Please email me if you have any questions.

I value every single  buyer. All transactions, however small, get the same attention.

SHIPPING

I expect to hear from the buyer within 48 hours.

Unless I use a flat rate, I do my best to charge as exact shipping as possible. I will round up to the next dollar or two to cover calculator errors, delivery confirmation, gas and sundries.
Flat rate charges may be less or more than actual shipping costs.
Delivery confirmation will be bought for items over $15.00;

SHIPPING costs include insurance for items priced $15.00 or more

Because shipping facilities may be as far as 40 miles (64 km), I only ship once a week usually from Vermont for U.S. buyers and from Canada for Canadians and I do combine shipping for savings whenever possible.

The amount of care I take packing is also at par with the quality of my merchandise and the professionalism of my listings.

INTERNATIONAL

Buyers from outside the United States need to email me as early as possible, about methods of payment and shipping rates. (PLEASE CONFIRM CALCULATOR RATES WITH ME)

FEWER SELLERS ACCEPT TO SHIP OVERSEAS because of the amount of time it takes for the paperwork and knowledge of shipping options and laws. Also some international buyers do not email beforehand, yet will hold the seller responsible for lateness of delivery, or worse ask Paypal for a chargeback.

I will provide you with the date, customs, tracking & insurance receipt numbers. Keep them handy (do not delete) as you may need to contact your local Post Office with this information in order to find out the date of delivery. About 6 to 8 weeks from the shipping date, if LOCAL INVESTIGATION concludes that your item has been lost or damaged, contact me then, I would file a claim with the US Postal Service and an investigation would be initiated by them.

USPS WILL NOT INSURE SOME INTERNATIONAL SHIPMENT METHODS AND DESTINATIONS.

I charge export papers fees for buyers outside North America. IF NEEDED, YOU MUST FIND A FRIEND FLUENT IN ENGLISH OR FRENCH. Fast and efficient communication is essential.

--------------------------------

BUYERS ARE INDIVIDUALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING THEIR LOCAL TAXES AND sorry, I DO NOT PROVIDE INACCURATE INVOICES.

Please make sure that you want the item and have the means to pay for it now (include shipping ).

Thanks for reading me, buying now means that you agree with the terms outlined above!

Please read these sample comments and POSITIVE FEEDBACKS

Hi Leslie

There are several things that struck me about this transaction.....incredibly well packed item, precise and prompt communication, mint-condition item and a positive overall experience. Incidentally, I checked the signal generator with a Hewlett Packard digital frequency counter. It is dead-on accurate, unusual for an antique analog generator. This has been a distinct pleasure.

WHO ARE WE?

A TEAM OF ENGINEERS, TEACHERS AND OTHER PROFESSIONALS WHOM, FOR OVER 15 YEARS, HAVE MADE A HOBBY OF PRESERVING VINTAGE ELECTRONICS OF INTEREST WHILE IMPROVING THEIR PERFORMANCE WHEN PRACTICAL. COLLECTIVELY WE HAVE SPENT THOUSANDS OF HOURS DEVELOPING OUR CIRCUITS AND BUILDING OUR PROJECTS WITH PRIDE AND EXITEMENT.

WE BELIEVE IN USING THE EQUIPMENT WE REBUILD AND UPGRADE, BECAUSE ITS MODERN COUNTERPART OFTEN, DO NOT MATCH THE QUALITY. THE TRUE EQUIVALENT MAY COST SEVERAL TIMES MORE! SINCE 2006, WE HAVE SOLD A FEW HUNDREDS OF OUR UPGRADED PROJECTS WITH 100% SATISFACTION OF OUR BUYERS!

SINCE IT IS MAINLY A HOBBY, WE DO NOT STRIVE TO RECOUP OUR TRUE COSTS AND WE DO TRY TO PRICE OUR ITEMS FAIRLY. BUT IF YOU WATCH THE MARKET, YOU MAY REALIZE THAT WE HAVE LITTLE OR NO COMPETITION. IN FACT AS AN EXEMPLE, THE UPGRADED IG-18 THAT WE HAVE SOLD HAVE VERY LITTLE IN COMMON WITH THE TYPICALLY DILAPIDATED, UNTESTED OR DEFECTIVE GENERATORS  WE FIND TOO OFTEN ON THE INTERNET!
