This coin is a part of a series of coins issued by the Government of Palau featuring colorful and threatened sea species. It was created to bring awareness to species which are threatened in hope recognition could help save them. This particular mollusk was over fished until recently when they became very difficult to find. The coin is designed from .999 fine silver coin and has a beautiful colorized depiction of the Hyriopsis Cumingii with a pearl, which they are capable of creating. The pearl is a real freshwater pearl, incorporated into the design of the coin. Additionally, this coin is produced by Coin Invest Trust and this coin and all coins from the previous releases and years has been completely sold out from the New Zealand Mint, Perth Mint and Mayer Mint for over a year !!!

The Story - The Hyriopsis Cumingii is the fourth coin in the award winning Sea Treasures Series and is known for producing pearls. Since this coin shaped like half of a Hyriopsis Cumingii, one side has a very reflective finish and what looks like a pearl and the opposite side is textured like the shell of this species. This issue will be highly collectible as the mintage has been split into a regular issue as well as a gold plated version.
