Bronze AE30 of Gallienus, joint reign with Valerian 254-260 CE, sole reign 260-268 CE.

From Seleukeia ad Kalykadnon in Silicia.

Greek myth includes a race of giants or Gigantes who were defeated in a battle with the Olympian gods. "Gigantes" implies born of the earth, very strong and aggressive but not necessarily of huge size, which would explain why this one is smaller than Athena! Early vase scenes name a giant battling against Athena as Enceladus.

Size and weight: 29x30mm, 8.67g.
Obverse: AV K Π ΛK ΓAΛΛIHNOC
Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right.
Reverse: CEΛEVKEΩN KAΛVΚAΔ
