This uber rare 1950's first generation vintage Zodiac Sea Wolf is truly special.  Besides being a very rarely seen watch, what sets this one apart is the unique dial patina.  The original "SWISS" signed white dial has developed an amazing pinkish orange patina that is as nice as you will likely ever find.  The original radium (signified by "SWISS" on the dial) on both the hands and the dial is fully intact and matches perfectly.  The radium no longer glows under any circumstance.  The bezel, which is in wonderful cosmetic condition, no longer rotates, presumably do to gunk buildup that has gotten under the bezel over the past several decades.  The all stainless steel case is in remarkably good condition, showing light wear and free of any visibly significant dents or dings.  The number "1215104" is engraved between the lugs at 6 o'clock.  The case back is engraved "ZODIAC SEAWOLF  WATER - TESTED  10 ATM ESPECIALLY" along with the Zodiac emblem.  The inside of the case back is stamped "Zodiac Ltd" followed by "Le Locle Swiss,""ACIER,""INOXYDABLE" and "699."  The crystal shows scratching.

The 17 jewels unadjusted Swiss "Zodiac Ltd." stamped AS 1624 automatic movement looks great and runs strong, albeit fast.  After winding the sharply threaded, original Zodiac signed crown 39 full revolutions the movement had a power reserve of approximately 25 hours.  During that time the watch ran approximately 11.5 minutes fast per hour.  Given that this watch is nearly 60 years old, runs fast and likely hasn't been serviced in several decades (there are 3 visible watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back, all appearing to be several decades old), a complete overhaul is suggested.

This watch measures approximately 34 mm excluding the crown, approximately 37 mm including the crown and approximately 17.5 mm between the lugs.  Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 7 mm.  Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 9.5 mm.  The 18 mm curved lug ends, straight non-lug end genuine one keeper Tropic band is in mint, fully pliable condition with the exception of a small slit on the keeper.  This small slit doesn't affect the keeper's functionality in the least and it is difficult to see unless under scrutiny or high magnification.  Additional pictures can be provided upon request.

As mentioned above, given the vintage nature of this watch, that it's running fast and considering that it likely hasn't been serviced in several decades, there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch.  Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time.   A full overhaul is recommended to keep this watch running strong.  Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility.
