Alan Houghton Bio
International, award-winning Photographic Artist, ALAN HOUGHTON, has been a photographer for over forty-five years including twenty years in Hollywood. Hollywood was the base from which he traveled to twenty-seven countries, photographing beautiful actresses and celebrities for newspapers and magazines. His work has garnered three hundred (300) magazine covers, and includes such celebrities as Demi Moore, Courteney Cox and Kim Basinger.

London born, Alan has also had his own portrait studio in Vancouver, Canada, did some acting in Rome, Italy, and was the co-creator of an NBC television series in 1992. After regularly visiting the Hawaiian Islands in the seventies, he became bewitched by their beauty & culture and moved to Honolulu with his wife, Jean, where they have now lived for over a decade.

alan is unusual in that he is one of a dying breed of artisans.  He hand makes all of his Fine Art Photographs himself, in his own darkroom in the traditional manner and personally signs them.  But for a relaxing hobby he likes nothing more than photographing the beautiful female nude body.

The world of photographic art today is a collector’s dream … a myriad of subjects, styles, prices, and colors including black & white, and sepia. The market, enhanced by the high prices of traditional art (oils, watercolors, etc.) has escalated in the past couple of decades into a very viable concern.Admittedly some prices have gone through the roof. $395,500.00 paid for a black & white photograph of Georgia O’Keefe’s hands holding a needle and thimble, at Christie’s International Auction House in very recent years.  Photography is still a young market and excellent buys are to be found. For example, the inspiring works of Fine Art Photographic Artist ALAN HOUGHTON.   Each and every one of his images is made in his own darkroom from the original negative, by himself, in the old fashioned traditional manner and personally signed.   Each resulting Fine Art Photograph is as close to perfection as possible…something that is sadly lacking with a lot of the photographs in the market today.

Alan’s art speaks for itself and will last a century or more…thereby creating the potential to continually appreciate for decades to come.
