Camark
Fan Vase
# 829
Offered
for auction: A nicely shaped off-white "fan
vase" with handle, from Camark
Pottery.
The vase has a very nicely detailed
body with a scrolled handle, tulip-form sides, and a pedestal foot.
This
vintage piece measures 5.25 inches high at the top of the
handle, about 5.75 inches long from tip to handle end, and 2 inches
wide across the unglazed white clay foot ring.
This
pretty vase is in very good condition, with no chips or fleabites.
The only real flaw I can see or find is a stress hairline crack at the bottom
edge of the handle (the handle has not broken or been repaired; the
hairline is where the handle meets the body at the bottom edge, see
photo with arrow). There is also some dust in the glaze.
The
bottom of the pedestal foot has an incised mark for 829 and USA. This shape
is shown on pages 74-79 of the "Collector's Guide to Camark Pottery
II" by
David Gifford. It is also shown in Camark advertising catalogs from the 1950s. |
