Limited edition aviation art print set including Night Hunters of the Reich signed by WOLFGANG FALCK and Moonlight Hunter signed by Major PAUL ZORNER and artist NICOLAS TRUDGIAN.

Night Hunters of the Reich print depicts the Messerschmitt Bf 110G-4 of Oberleutnant Martin Drewes (47 night victories) at dusk in March 1944 as he vectors to intercept four-engined heavy bombers of the RAF.  The Me110 is equipped with the very latest FuG 220 and 218 radars.  Overall print size is approximately 23 3/8 by 18 7/8 inches

Oberst Wolfgang Falck was appointed Kommodore NJG1, the largest Geschwader in the Luftwaffe.  In July 1943 he joined the staff of Luftflotte Reich where he was responsible for the day and night fighter defense of the Reich.  He was made Fighter Leader in the Balkans in the fall of 1944 and later became head of staff for flying training.  He flew 90 operational missions and was awarded the Knight’s Cross.

Moonlight Hunter is a really spectacular print that depicts a Junkers Ju88 G-6 night fighter piloted by Zorner, Gruppenkommandeur III./NJG100 as he intercepts and badly damages a four-engined AVRO Lancaster bomber.  Shedding debris and in flames, the RAF crew may have time to bale out before the heavy plummets to the ground.  Overall print size is approximately 25 by 19 inches. 

 

The photo does not do these prints justice.  Night scenes are tremendously difficult to paint well, and Trudgian has done excellent work on these images.  Note that the digital images have been altered; aircraft markings on the actual print are historically accurate.  The COAs are included.  Night Hunters of the Reich and Moonlight Hunter were published as editions of only 450 signed and numbered prints.  This pair has matching numbers.  Print condition is excellent, never framed, and stored flat in acid-free materials.
