Here is a really fabulous antique table centre piece..it is made from silver plate and glass... two parts.
As you can see it has a PALM TREE this is holding the original clear cut glass liner... this is rather "nipple" shaped ....with a polished bottom end and the design is engraved .. wheel cut.. leaves and foliage.... with the fine lines going into the base... the decoration on the outside of the glass.. nice and smooth inside...it has a very tiny top rim edge knock.. its gone a milky white colour the bruise.. typical of the glass....lucky its not actually chipped it off....if you are not looking for it.. you will not really see it....its about 3/4 inch long on the very inner edge of the lip.
This glass liner is 4 and a quarter inch dia x 2 and 3/4 inch tall.
Now to Robinson Crusoe.... hes got a parasol in his right hand and a rifle - gun over his left shoulder....wearing fur clothing... stout boots and a cross over belt... in his belt he has a pair of pistols - a short axe or hatchet - and a large Bowie knife in a sheath - and a Kukri type knife too.
Wearing a large fur hat as well and he is bearded....stood on the knoll under the palm tree.
Look under the base.. it has the famous WALKER & HALL makers mark of the flag and their intials.
It is in superb condition and the glass liner fits well.
The tree is 8 inch tall without the liner in situ.. x 3 and 3/4 inch wide base.... with the liner in situ the item is 9 and a quarter inch tall.
It weighs approx 1 kilogram.
