Here is a rather nice antique German Silver mounted set of items you do not often use these days.. but back in their day this would have been a very important group of items.
The box is black leather covered wood... which has been repaired on the ends.. its scuffed and rubbed too.. but these sort of boxes do get damaged and bruised... the push button clasp is good and the lid hinges open ok.
Under the lid it has a reddy silky material and the base has a red velvet material which has worn off the top plushness.. these items have been used.
The design of the handles are like NO others I have ever seen... really ornate... and on the cartouche ..plain part they have all got an engraved initial ... I , J or an L ...I cannot decide really as its an unusual font.
All the handles are the same style.. design .. even the miniature BUTTON HOOK .. this has a suspension loop on the end to be worn on a ladies CHATELAINE.
So starting with the mini button hook ... you will see the button hook end has a small crack so I would advise NOT to use this for buttons. ..it is 2 and 1/4 inch long overall length.
Larger button hook... it has a steel button hook end.. it is 6 and 3/4 inch long overall.
Then the shoe horn .. it too has a steel business end.. and its 6 and 3/4 inch long overall.
In the centre it has the glove stretchers these says GERMAN SILVER BLADES .....now then someone has given these a little too much pressure on the handles at some time and it has cracked the silver handle part on the inner steel ...you can see the crack in the silver...it is a little loose this handle too...it is 6 and 3/4 inch long.
It displays very well and is a really UNUSUAL handle design.
The box is just over 9 inch long x 4 inch wide x 1 inch deep.
