THE ADVENTURES OF SHERLOCK HOLMES

by A. Conan Doyle

published in London by George Newnes. 1893. 2nd. edition

Bound in the publishers blue cloth in a condition commensurate with it's age.  Decorative gilt title and with a black embossed vignette, bevel edged boards and original decorative endpapers and gilt page edges.

317 pages of text and many black and white illustrations by Sidney Pagett,

As mentioned above, this book is well worn with crumpled spine extremes and bumping to  board corners. There is cracking to the front and rear hinges and the first 18 pages are detached, as are pages 21 to 28. beyond that there has been some attempt to repair three loose pages which has left considerable staining. Also, the last 10 pages are almost detached. (please see uploaded pictures).

Apart from that, the majority of the book is reasonably clean and readable and all the illustrations good. Most of the text block is firm and there are no missing pages.

Despite it's condition, this is a rare and highly collectable volume
