GRADUATED NATURAL PEARL NECKLACE with DIAMOND CLASP NECKLACE - c.1830 England

England in 1830 had no middle class to speak of, and certainly no jewelry stores for the masses. 

An exquisite necklace such as this would have been specially made, to be given as a gift of love from
a nobleman to a lady. Each pearl would have been collected naturally (as culturing and the
farming of pearls did not begin until closer to the end of the 19th-century.) The diamonds are faceted
in a round, old-cut design and set in silver. The ownership history of this necklace has been lost
but I am certain it must have gone to some very fine parties.

This fine piece of antique jewelry is from the collection of Olivia Collings.  I have set a very fair price for this magnificent antique necklace with around 185 years of history. It is in very good antique condition with no major scratches or missing pearls or diamonds.  All pearls and diamonds are original, genuine and intact.  Some signs of normal wear due to age.

• Approximately 19 1/4" (48.90cm) in total length.

• Hand knotted natural pearls from the largest size approximately 7mm to the smallest size approximately 3mm.

• Pearl color and size various due to the natural variations of the pearls.

• Genuine diamond clasp features 9 smaller diamonds (about 2mm each) surrounding a center larger diamond (about 5mm).

• Silver is tarnished due to age.

• Diamond clasp has a security chain with a spring ring.

• Comes with jewelry box and travel jewelry case.
