Here is a one off - unique sterling silver scale model of a British NAVY Warship called HMS FLEETWOOD - F47.
This model was commissioned by Elizabeth P. Tetley Vaughan-Hughes for her husband Disney Mainwaring Vaughan -Hughes for their silver wedding anniversary 1946-1971.
There are NO other sterling silver scale models of this ship.. the actual ship has now been scrapped.
Her husband Disney was Commander of this ship at some time but I cannot find the exact date for this.. he was Lt of HMS ORIBI G66 in the Second World War 1944-45 and he became LT CDR in 1950 and then CDR in 1957 so that may well be when he was Commander of HMS FLEETWOOD - F47...he retired in 1967.
So this solid sterling silver model was commissioned by Asprey of London and made by DBH silversmiths in London 1971 going by the hallmarks.. DBH is DYAS BEVERLEY HAMPTON a very good maker....the attention to detail on this model is fabulous....the hallmarks are at the back of the ship on the deck.
To the front of the solid polished Onyx base when the ship is facing left there is a silver plaque ..this has been engraved with

Being his name and his wife's name with the 25th Anniversary dates.
The model is 8 and a quarter inch long x just over 1 inch wide x 2 and 3/8ths inch tall to the top of the mast part.
The onyx base is approx 10 inch long x 3 inch wide x 1 and a quarter inch tall.
The model is in very good condition...a couple of the fine wire .. flag poles and masts are bent a little....but not broken off.... the silver has got the dark staining in places.. I have not polished it.. I wouldnt advise it either...it wants leaving alone to patinate on its own....or you may want to get a glass cover to fit over it.
The model is in a stiff cardboard box which has the Asprey retailers lable on it.. with other writing too....no other paperwork etc...just this old box.
Check out these website below for more info on the ship etc...being a GRIMSBY SLOOP type of ship.... as well as that obviously this ship was Commanded by other men and their families may well be interested in this model ..not forgetting ALL the ships CREW over the years and THEIR RELATIONS still alive.. it will suit a serious collector or museum alike.
