STEINLEN "LE CHAT NOIR" BLACK CAT FRANCE FRENCH STAINED ART GLASS PANEL DISPLAY

STEINLEN "LE CHAT NOIR" BLACK CAT STAINED ART GLASS PANEL DISPLAY

Theophile Steinlen (1859-1923) - 1896

Le Chat Noir "The Black Cat" was a nineteenth-century entertainment establishment in Paris.  It is thought to be the first modern cabaret; a nightclub where patrons sat at tables and drank alcoholic beverages while being entertained by a variety show on stage.  The acts were introduced by a master of ceremonies who interacted with well-known patrons at the tables.  This iconic poster art is best known as it was advertising a tour to other cities ("coming soon") of the Le Chat Noir's troupe of cabaret entertainers.

The glass panel is framed in metal and measures approximately 10" by 7" and includes a metal chain for hanging as well as an acrylic base if you would prefer to display it on a table or shelf.

Each glass panel is made with hand applied, high quality, color pigmentation that is kiln fired and fused to the glass in multiple layers creating rich color that will not fade or scratch off.
