Book/Item Description: The journey to lasting peace begins with a single step.

In this volume, Daisaku Ikeda, President of Soka Gakkai International, recalls his first meeting

with his mentor Josei Toda - an encounter that would sow the seeds of Soka Gakkai's worldwide peace movement. The essays in this book describe the growth of the SGI, the mentor-disciple spirit

that nourishes it and President Ikeda's efforts to build bridges between cultures through dialogue.

They also convey Dr Ikeda's conviction that radiant youth awakened to their mission will guide the

world from war to peace. See Publisher’s Info. GA residents pay 7% sales tax.

A Word About Book Condition.........:

Hardcover vs Softcover: Hardcover books are graded much stricter by me than the softcover books that I offer. This is, of course, because softcover books (even new ones) show wear much more quickly, even if they just sit on the bookstore shelf. In other words, I grade softcover books against other softcover books on the market. Please be assured that I will note any flaws and you will be happy!

New: A book that looks as if it just came out from the printer, never been read, without flaws or blemishes. If it was issued with a dustjacket, it is attached in perfect or almost perfect condition. Looks just like you would expect to find on a bookstore shelf.

New Publisher’s Overstock: This is the typical unread book that I sell. I hand-pick these myself, in person, from a world-wide publisher’s return warehouse. These were either overstocks or returns to the publisher. I get them from a wholesaler directly out of the publisher’s boxes. The wholesaler sells them to leading discount stores, or to smaller private bookstores.

In most cases, the books look like they just came off a bookstore shelf. You may be purchasing one at your local bookstore as new and just don’t know it. If there are obvious flaws on the book or on dustjacket, I note them. There may also be a remainder mark (a single pen mark across the outer edge of the pages), or the dustjacket may be clipped (the removal of the original price from the dustjacket by clipping it off with a pair of scissors). If either of these are the case, I note them.

What’s great for you is that you get a new book at a BIG discount!! I get a great deal on these and pass the great prices on to you.

As New: A used book that looks as if it could have possibly come have off a bookstore shelf, with light reading or thumb-through, without obvious flaws or blemishes. If it was issued with a dustjacket, it is attached in almost perfect condition. Looks like you might find with the top book on a stack at a bookstore.

Fine: A used book, almost as new, but not as clean & tight. May have a few small minor defects which may include blemishes on the book. Any other problems are noted.

Very Good: A used book showing minor to moderate signs of wear, but (usually) no tears on the pages. Binding & pages show signs of being opened and read with the effects of that evident in minor to moderate defects which may include blemishes, flaws, etc.. May show shelf wear such as bumps to hardcover corners not through the cloth binding. Any other problems are noted.

Good: A used book, typical of the type normally seen. Noticeable wear, tear, fading and/or foxing is evident. Binding may have looseness and there may be minor tears to pages. May show evident shelf wear such as being somewhat shelf-cocked and/or having bumps to hardcover corners and bottoms of bindings not through cloth binding. Any other problems are noted.

Fair: A used book with a moderate to large amount of obvious wear, tear, fading and/or foxing. Binding is loose and some pages may be loose and/or have minor to moderate tears, but the text is complete. Endpapers may be missing or torn. Shows obvious signs of moderate to large amounts of shelf wear such as being shelf-cocked and having bumps to hardcover corners and bottoms of bindings through the cloth binding. Any other problems are noted.

Poor or Reading Copy: A used book with complete text, but endpapers, maps, plates, etc., may be missing. Beaten up with stains, tears, fading and foxing evident. Binding and spines may be very loose, weakened or have tears or rips. Any other problems are noted.

Ex-Library (In addition to conditions above): A used book once a part of a public or private library, college or university. May have removed endpapers, card pockets, places where the card pockets were torn off, cataloguing numbers, stamps with name of library, words “withdrawn” or “discarded” stamped or written in ink and/or other markings.
