PURDEY DUCK SHOOTING

ENAMEL BOX

This is a large round gilded hinged box measuring 2. 5 inches, 6 cm across.

The design was commissioned by the gunmakers, James Purdey & Sons and celebrates the sport of Duck Shooting.

A traditional scene is featured on the lid with a red coated shooter with his gundog on the banks of a river.

The outside base of the box has six vignettes of various breeds of duck enclosed in borders.

On the inside lid is a tribute to James Purdey I, the founder of the company.

On the inside base is an outline design of a Game Gun and a Flintlock Gun.

This lovely, detailed enamel is is excellent, undamaged condition and complete with Halcyon days basestamp and  "A Bilston Enamel Box commissioned by James Purdey & Sons, Gunmakers, London".
