Description:

This stylish, solid silver coffee pot / hot water jug is of rounded, rectangular, panelled form; having ebony handle and finial and stands on four bun feet.

Condition:

There is a small, shallow dent to the shoulder (not unsightly); apart from this and the usual fine surface marks and scratching (all commensurate with age and use), it is in very good condition for 87 years old, with the handle and lid firm and it is without a monogram, crest or inscription.

Measurements:

It measures approx. 18 cm high to the top of the finial; 18 cm high to the top of the thumb-rest on the handle; 18.3 cm from the tip of the spout through to the back of the handle; 7.5 cm x 5.5 m across the base; has a capacity of 1¼ pints comfortably and weighs 368 grams / 11.832 troy oz.

Hallmarks:

It is fully hallmarked to the body and has the lion passant and date letter to the inside of the lid.

The assay office is the much sought after and highly collectable Chester, with the date letter for 1930 and the maker’s mark for S Blanckensee & Sons Ltd.
