CHALLENGER IMPORTS #2361.1 SOUTHERN PACIFIC 4-8-8-2 CAB FORWARD, NEAR MINT, ZERO WHEEL WEAR, TEST RUN ONLY
This extraordinary model is becoming harder and harder to find in this totally unused condition.
Discussions on sites like Trainorders.com go on for years as to who built the best X model, or who built the best Y model. But in the case of the late SP Cab Forwards, there is absolutely no debate. This Challenger Imports version of the AC-11 is leaps above any contemporary builder/importer.  It can sell for well over a thousand dollars more than Overland's Ajin version. This model represents the peak of Samhongsa craftsmanship. The only builder that could produce a model of this quality and detail today is Boo Rim. The same label partially ripped on the front of the box is the list price tag, which another is complete and attached to the rod removal tool. The list price was 2467.00 when released.

Factory painted to perfection, this model is a masterpiece in brass. It test runs powerfully in silence, and has full directional lighting, including headlight, number boards, cab light, and an independently wired tender reverse light. (no connector between locomotive and tender) The original box is in great condition, foam is perfect, and it comes with all it's original packaging material including plastic wheel alignment guides, small parts bag, and rod removal tool. The cab roof is removable to reveal excellent back-head and interior detail, and a cab crew has been added. This model is without doubt in true collectors condition.  The AC-11 was the last SP prototype version to have tender lettering, as it was halted on the later AC-12 due to too much soot buildup from tunnel running. In photo 7, that is not a dust halo on the tender deck, but just an effect of the lighting. There is no dust buildup on this model.

There is some paint chipping from several drivers. I follow the premise that out of the box condition means just that. I will leave it to some future owner to touch up the paint if he chooses, but I will not tamper with the model to try improve its appeal. Any alterations on this model were made by a previous owner, an acquaintance, the first owner.

NO RETURN ITEM UNLESS THE DESCRIPTION IS FOUND TO BE GROSSLY INACCURATE ACCORDING TO eBay. If you are an experienced brass buyer or collector, you know that the solder on older models becomes brittle with age, and the mere unpacking and handling of a model can sometimes damage it or break off a fitting or two. I no longer allow returns for that reason. I used to.
