IWC was founded in Schaffhausen
Switzerland in 1868. They manufacture seven different watch collections:
The Aquatimer, the DaVinci, the Grande Complication, the Ingenieur,
the Pilot’s Watch, the Portofino, and the Portguese---Ask any
watch collector which Swiss Manufacturer is best known for designing
pilot’s watches and they will immediately answer "IWC."
Since the early 1930’s IWC has been producing the world’s
finest and most durable pilot’s watches. They produced the first
Big Pilot’s watch in 1936 and then quickly expanded the Pilot’s
Watch line to include the Double Chronograph, the Chronograph Automatic,
the Mark XV, the Spitfire Double Chronograph, the Spitfire Chronograph
Automatic, the Spitfire UTC, and the Spitfire Mark XV.

in Black matte finished Ceramic/Titanium bezel-case measuring 48mm
diameter. Fixed ceramic bezel. Self-winding automatic movement, power
reserve of 7-Days (168 hours) hours. Displays a matte Black finish dial
with luminous fill Black pointed hands, bold white painted Arabic
Numeral hour markers, white printed minute/hour track around the outer
rim. Small running seconds with luminous filled hand at the center in
the day sub-dial at the 9 o'clock position...7-Day Power Reserve, with
luminous filled hand at the center of the date sub-dial at the 3
o'clock position........
Chronograph
Moon phase, 12-Hour Dial & Perpetual calendar; sub-dial at the 12
o'clock position. It has a matte titanium colored full moon with a
rotating black disc above the moon - the disc partially blocks the
moon display imitating the wax & wane of the moon. Mirror images
of the moon as seen from the northern and southern hemispheres &
which deviates from the moons actual progress by a mere 12 seconds per
lunar period. Perpetual calendar related hands are black with red arrow
heads, Day of the week indicator on the outside perimeter of the
sub-dial at the 9 o'clock position, Date indicator on the outside
perimeter of the sub-dial at the 3 o'clock position, Month indicator at
the sub-dial at the 6 o'clock position, Current year aperture in a 4
digit format with a between the 7 & 8 o'clock position...
Solid case back, Scratch Resistant Sapphire Crystal. Titanium Screw Down Crown. Black soft
leather Strap with red inner trim and IWC Deployment Buckle, additional
second strap. Water Resistant 60m/ 200f. Display signed "IWC", Caseback

Tool... "This IWC Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar Top Gun
(IW502902) is amazing. This model comes with a plethora of
features that promise to keep your interest and delight you. It is
extraordinarily well made and designed. IWC makes outstanding fine
quality timepieces, which are elegant, classy and sophisticated.
Apart from date, day and month, perpetual calendar and four-digit year
display that takes into account all the leap years in the Gregorian
calendar until the year 2100. The moon phase display represents the
position of the moon in the northern /southern hemispheres and the red
arrow tips on the sub-dials contrasts the black dial perfectly..
Although complicated, I personally
love the pure design and layout of the dial. The
combination of Ceramic/Titanium makes for a light and durable case and
with a patented IWC Pellaton Automatic Movement and the black straps
with the deployment clasp will keep it secure to the wrist. This watch
in my opinion is highly collectible and outstanding in every way!

"mechanical masterpiece, takes into account all the complexities of the
leap years, in other words, it recognizes all the years that can be
divided, without remainder, by four (e.g. 2012), as well as the
centuries that can be divided, likewise without remainder, by 400 (e.g.
2400). These leap years all have a 29th day in February. Years at the
turn of the century that leave a remainder when divided by 400 – the
next ones are 2100, 2200 and 2300 – are not leap years. In cases like
these, calendars with an analogue display will need to be advanced by
one day on 1 March by a watchmaker. Calendars with a digital display can
be adjusted by the owner. The perpetual calendar’s century slide with
an analogue display turns each new century into a major event. The
current century slide bears the numbers 20, 21 and 22 and will thus come
to the end of its service life on 31 December 2299; but even
now, IWC supplies the century slide bearing the figures 22, 23 and 24
for the years 2200 to 2499".
