Swamp Thing first appeared in House of Secrets Issue #92 which was published in July of 1971. There has been some confusion with the Marvel comics character Man Thing as some have said that Swamp Thing was copy of Man Thing who first appeared in Savage Tales Vol. 1, #1 which was first published in May of 1971. In any case, the Swamp Thing is a fictional character created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson for DC Comics, and featured in a long-running horror-fantasy comic book series of the same name. He is a humanoid mass of vegetable matter who fights to protect his swamp home, the environment in general, and humanity, from various supernatural threats. The series was continued by a number of writers, notably Alan Moore, whose reinvention of the character was particularly influential.
This is the original Swamp Thing statue released by DC Comics in 1996. It comes in the original box which unlike statues today was a plain box with a 4 color poster glued to one side of the box. This statue is brand new, never been displayed and never been removed from the original box and has been stored in the original shipping box from the distributor.
