1899 WERNER ART PRINT SPANISH AMERICAN WAR MARINES

This beautiful and original old 1899 Chromolithograph art print shows US NAVY— FIRST HOISTING OF THE STARS AND STRIPES BY THE MARINES ON CUBAN SOIL, JUNE 11TH, 1898, and is removed from the following rare old book:

At the end of the 19th century, the Werner Company of Akron, Ohio was at the forefront of new developments in printing technology. Their famous chromolithographic color plates depicted scenes of military campaign & battle, as well as the uniforms of officers and non-commissioned officers and the changes to the uniform through time for both Army and Navy, 1776-1899.

This antique 19th century chromolithograph (not a reproduction) contains vivid colors. The print is ready for framing, and measures about 13" by 9". The full page itself measures about 17 1/2" by 13 1/4". The buyer will receive the entire page with its original glassine (Milky white, translucent paper) title-sheet still attached to the print at the spine.

The print is in quite good condition with only a ragged edge where it was carefully removed from the bound volume. Scan shows title page, the print with enlarged detail, and the glassine title-sheet that covers the original print.
