(Inuksuk is the preferred Inuit spelling, Inukshuk is the English language version)

An Inuksuk is a stone landmark created by the peoples of the First Nations
(First Nations is Canadian for what the United States call Native Americans).
They are found typically north of the Arctic Circle from Alaska to Greenland.

They were typically a single stone on end and meant to be used as a navigation point
along travel routes or as a marker for fishing villages and hunting grounds.
The picture shows a traditional Inuksuk to the left and an Inunnguaq (Imitaion of a Man) to the right.
