Collectors would go to the notorious Paddy s market which was a daily East End place in Glasgow to buy and sell anything . Early each morning for 32 yrs the previous owner of my vintage stock would go to buy the best of the underwear on offer. Here is a small part of that collection.........
Many garments have had little wear or never been worn at all I have many items with the original labels still on them . All the garments are washed or steam cleaned , checked for faults , if any are found they are the are often repaired. All garments are finally graded for quality and desirability and priced accordingly........................................
Now, After Care this is important !!! Many of the garments have been hand dyed , this is why they are so beautiful , especially in the lace detail .....................................................
So Hand Wash only and Drip Dry. Do not machine wash , you will have years of wear by doing this .........................................

Unlike modern lingerie , (post 1970 ) where speed and cheapness of manufacture were most important ,vintage lingerie and foundation wear has been timely made . Quality fabrics were used and the machinist trained properly .
Makers such as Gossard, Spirella & Kayser charged accordingly for this. Corset owners had to be frugal as much as a weeks wage was required to buy one. .....................................
I have a Littlewoods catalogue from 1940 , that's 74 yrs old, price for a roll on girdle was 10.0p & Corselette 12.6p
Here is an extract from it.Circa 1940.......................
( Wonderfully comfortable corselette, moulding waist hips and thighs as only a good two way stretch fabric can .The cleverly cut bust sections give youthful uplift lines. Rolls on easily . four suspenders fitted ,Tea rose shade ....................................
