Sissoo Wood Fife,  Key of Eb

This Sissoo Wood Eb Fife is like those I have been making in other woods.  Sissoo grows in India, and has the hue of rosewood and the grain of teak.  It lasts forever -- I made this fife from stock which sat outside at least 37 years,  and only the surface was sun-bleached.   Sissoo has some real heft to it as well.

This Sissoo Wood Fife has the contoured mouthpiece I carve to make it easier to blow against for beginners,  and more expressive for players. This contour smoothes airflow around the outside of the fife, so notes form faster. Right hand Finger holes are offset for ease of fingering.  The bore is sealed,  the outside is finished with coats of fine gunstock varnish.

The fife is held sideways to the right,  and blown across the mouthpiece. Simple fingering gets the diatonic scale (do --re --me --) in the key of Eb major (Eb on the piano). Cross fingering gets the notes in between. Eb is a good key for bands, and is the key for some brass instruments. If you are choosing this key, you are probably a good enough player to need no instruction from me, but instructions come with the fife anyway.

I ship promptly, with tracking. Please feel free to email me with any questions you may have.

Happy Playing!
