My name is Jesse, I trained as a refrigeration mechanic after leaving trade school and have spent my entire professional career working in the heating and cooling industry. I've worked on both the tools (apprentice through to team leader) and in the office. I'm currently employed by one of Australia's largest energy suppliers working directly with (you guessed it) commercial and residential heating and cooling. Often vacuuming can damage the sensitive media leaving holes or tears in the filter material. Washing the media while somewhat effective does not clear it of grease and grime which builds up in the filter pads (especially if your return air duct is near a kitchen). |
Replacement is often the best solution. |

HOW TO INSTALL YOUR NEW FILTER MATERIAL IN UNDER 5 MINUTES |
Assemble The Required Tools: Stanley Knife Or Similar Sharp Hobby Knife |
Use the flat headed screwdriver to lift a corner of the securing rubber. | ||
Once the rubber string has been removed, gently pull one corner of the dirty filter material, the entire sheet should pull loose without resistance.
Have a plastic bag handy as dust will immediately fall from the filter material. Dispose of the used material. |
Use a dampened cloth to wipe down any residual dust from the aluminium frame. Use only warm water, do not use abrasive chemicals on the frame. |
Place the new filter material over the frame so that edges are covered |
Commencing in the corner of the frame, position the rubber string into its oringinal groove, ensuring there is overlap of filter material on both sides of the channel. |
Using the spline roller, push the securing rubber string into position, using a firm press to re-insert the rubber string.Use your fingers at the corners to ease the rubber string into the channel. It is typical for the rubber spline to stretch during the process, use a hobby knife to trim any surplus rubber string once complete. |
Using the hobby knife, carefully trim the excess filter material, the blade should be inserted between the rubber string and the aluminium channel.
