1908-12 FORMAL SILVERY BEADED EVENING GOWN MUSEUM DE-ACCESSIONED

This WAS a truly magnificent beaded gown from approx., 1908 - 1912 era.

One piece in construction formal gown recently de-accessioned from the Rochester Historical Society Museum collection in New York state.

The gown is made of a fine translucent silk chiffon and the beadwork is on a fine tulle heavily beaded.

The bodice has a square neck and long slender sleeves. The front and back of the bodice neckline has disintegrated only the upper neck band is there as seen in photos.
The sleeves have a flowing over sleeve that is trimmed with beadwork.  The bodice closes up the back with hooks and eyes. The bodice is lined in cream colored silk and is boned and is in stages of disintegration. One yellow spot on center front.

There is no underarm discoloration, but the chiffon has shredded in the underarm area.

The skirt is also trimmed with a front panel of tulle with beadwork designs. The lining needs to be replaced, beginning stages of shredding.
The skirt is more delicate and does have some flaws. The chiffon overskirt skirt is damaged in one place with many holes and splitting

The chiffon and tulle has yellowed slightly with age on this gown. Very little bead loss.

MEASUREMENTS:
Bust 35"

This gown makes a beautiful and romantic display, and worthy of bringing back to its almost original glory.
