Elaborately decorated front and back with deep repousse scrolls and foliate Victorian styled swirls in a pattern taken from the height of the Victorian Egyptian Revival style, this sterling silver match safe or vesta makes a lovely addition to any collection. The lid hinges open and there is a recessed striker area in the base.  There is an attached bail so this could be worn on a chain or chatelaine. The size is not only perfect for matches, but can hold a day's pills or other small treasures. This wonderful piece measures just over 2 1/4" x 1 1/2" and is marked 925 for 925/1000 purity.
