German 8.8cm Pak 43/41 "Barn Door"

Split Trail Anti Tank Gun

20mm Scale

New, sealed and unbuilt.

Ref No : GART5

The Pak 43 (Panzerabwehrkanone 43) was developed by Krupp in competition with Rheinmetall's 8.8cm Flak 41. The main version was mounted on a cruciform mount with 360 degree traverse and a far lower profile than the 8.8cm Flak 37. However its manufacture was slow and costly. This lead to the Krupp being asked to develop a weapon with the Pak41 barrel based on the Flak 41 which was subsequently designated the Pak 43/41.

The 88mm Pak43/41 had a split trail carriage taken from the 10.5cm leFH18 Howitzer with wheels from the 15cm sFH Howitzer. This made the Pak 43/41 difficult to manouever particularly in the snow and mud of ther Eastern Front earning the 43/41 the nickname 'scheunentor' or 'barn door'.

The Pak 43 and the Pak43/41 fired the same ammunition so their ballistic performance was identical.

The Pak43, known as the 8.8cm KwK 43 was mounted in Tiger II, Hornisse/Nashorn, Ferdinand/Elefant and Jagdpanther.

Kit is a 20mm Zone rapid build with around 11 parts and comprises white metal parts.

Whether for wargaming or just building for display this brand new kit is a beauty. Not to be missed.
