14k yellow gold estate pendant

with genuine US $5 gold  Liberty Head Half Eagle coin

1899-S with motto

tt4b

This piece of jewelry has value as a beautiful pendant, as a piece of gold and as a coin.  The setting is solid 14 karat yellow gold (marked and tested) especially designed to securely and gently hold the coin so that no solder or other material mars its surface.  The coin is a US $5 gold piece from 1899 with a karat content of 21.6.  It is designated as a 1899-S coin to show that it was minted in San Francisco.  It is called a Liberty Head Half Eagle in coin parlance and has Lady Liberty on one side and the Eagle on the other.   It also has the motto "In God We Trust" on the banner above the eagle.  The coin itself weighs 8.3 grams.  With the coin holder, the piece weighs 10 grams.  It is equipped with a ring bail that will accommodate chains up to 4mm in diameter.  The coin measures 13/16 of an inch in diameter.  What a beautiful way to wear a piece of history.  A lovely memento from 1899, it is in excellent condition and will come in a sparkly pouch inside of one of my signature boxes, perfect for gift-giving.
