Gone With The Wind

by

Margaret Mitchell

Here is a very rare vintage hardcover book that would be a fantastic addition to a collection!

You are bidding on a rare, vintage hardcover book titled Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell. This is the classic story by Margaret Mitchell set in the deep South during the Civil War. It is regarded by many as one of the masterpieces of American literature. And, of course, it was made into an incredible film.

The book is published by The Macmillan Company. This is the early, rare and highly collectible First Edition, from August, 1936! It also comes with a facsimile color copy of the original dustjacket from May 1936 which was the First Printing of the dustjacket. You can tell that this was the First Printing of the dustjacket because on the rear panel, the title "Gone With The Wind" appears on the right column of book titles rather than in the left column as it was changed in subsequent printings. This is a rare First Edition book and includes a facsimile color copy of the dustjacket from the First Printing!!!

Gone with the Wind is a romantic drama and the only novel written by Margaret Mitchell. It is set in Jonesboro and Atlanta, Georgia during the American Civil War and Reconstruction. and follows the life of Scarlett O'Hara, the daughter of an Irish immigrant plantation owner. The novel won the 1937 Pulitzer Prize and was adapted into an Academy Award-winning 1939 film of the same name. It was also adapted during the 1970s into a stage musical Scarlett; there is also a 2008 new musical stage adaptation in London's West End titled Gone With The Wind. It is the only novel by Mitchell published during her lifetime, and it took her seven years to write it and a further eight months to check the thousands of historical and social references. The novel is one of the most popular books of all time, selling more than 30 million copies and one of the best-selling American books. It has also been praised for it's historical relevance.

Book features the Confederate gray binding with the Union blue lettering on cover and spine. The binding is in very good condition with just a bit of wear and soil. Also, because this is such a thick book, the spine usually shows deep creasing, but this is not the case with this book as the spine is in terrific condition with no creases. There are 1,037 pages, clean and tightly bound with a couple of light smudges on page 23. Previous owner name on front flyleaf. The book is very clean and solid! Book remains in very good condition.

Very collectible!

Would make a terrific addition to a collection.

Perfect gift idea!
