Because of its very efficient design, its current draw is negligible when no load is applied (10 milli-amps).
It is so compact that it will fit behind the dash or even attach to the unit/radio. Around 1 3/4 inches square.
Output from a 6 volt system is approximately 2.4 amps/30 watts at idle and 3.2 amps/40 watts with the engine running.
8 and 12 volt systems put out even more power. These are conservative numbers but in the ballpark for estimation.
